Position: Fire Protection / Firefighting Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection / Firefighting Engineer to join Adag Group and support the delivery of a major data center project in Ohio.

The Fire Protection / Firefighting Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the design implementation, installation, testing, and authority compliance of the project’s fire protection systems. Working within an integrated EPC team, this role will help ensure that fire protection systems are properly coordinated, installed, tested, documented, and delivered in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, and approval requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fire Protection Engineering & Technical Coordination
  • Review fire protection drawings, hydraulic calculations, equipment submittals, and installation methods.
  • Coordinate sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, water storage, and specialist suppression system interfaces.
  • Ensure fire protection requirements are properly integrated into project design and field execution.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues affecting fire protection system installation and performance.
  • Coordinate technical requirements and outstanding issues with the design team, contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
2. Multidisciplinary Coordination
  • Coordinate fire protection systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire alarm systems.
  • Identify and resolve clashes, system interfaces, and installation constraints.
  • Work closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure coordinated installation and sequencing.
  • Support the resolution of field issues affecting fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate fire protection requirements with the broader EPC project schedule and construction activities.
3. Installation, Quality & Testing
  • Monitor fire protection installation activities for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Monitor installation quality and support required inspections throughout construction.
  • Coordinate and monitor system flushing, pressure testing, inspections, and acceptance testing.
  • Identify deficiencies and work with contractors and project teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain visibility of outstanding work, testing requirements, and system readiness.
4. Compliance, Approvals & Commissioning
  • Coordinate fire protection requirements with the design team, insurers, authorities, and commissioning team.
  • Support compliance with applicable fire codes and authority and insurer approval requirements.
  • Coordinate required inspections, reviews, testing, and acceptance activities.
  • Support the commissioning and turnover of completed fire protection systems.
  • Escalate technical, compliance, quality, or schedule issues that could affect system acceptance or project delivery.
5. Documentation & Turnover
  • Maintain accurate test records, inspection documentation, deficiency lists, and punch lists.
  • Track outstanding deficiencies through resolution and closeout.
  • Ensure required fire protection documentation is maintained throughout construction and testing.
  • Support the preparation and completion of turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate documentation requirements with construction, quality, commissioning, contractors, and vendors.
What You Bring to the Organization:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering
    , or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • 5–10 years of experience delivering fire protection systems on major building or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fire protection system design implementation, installation, testing, and acceptance.
  • Knowledge of applicable fire codes and authority and insurer approval processes.
  • Experience coordinating fire protection systems with other building and engineering disciplines.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, design teams, inspectors, and commissioning teams.
  • Experience with data centers, critical facilities, or high-hazard suppression systems is desirable
