Position Summary
The HIM Tech Specialist provides clerical support along with scanning duties in the functional areas of data compilation, quantitative analysis and verification of records, maintenance of files and correspondence in the Health Information Management (HIM) Department.

LocationPosition is in Versailles, KY but initial training will be in Georgetown. Must be willing to commute.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in release of information practices preferred.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Analyzes the assembled medical record for chart completion deficiencies in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
- Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
- Reviews documentation and updates or clears deficiencies as appropriate.
- Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members) while maintaining confidentiality.
- Retrieves, logs, and prints medical records as requested by physician offices, patients, other hospitals, and other entities as needed.
- Notifies the Director of any outstanding records, issues with equipment, processes, or other job concerns.
- Participates in on-call rotation for retrieval of records, fax transfer of records, pulling power of attorney papers, and related duties.
- Assists with other HIM daily functions.
- Works closely with physicians and ensures they are set up to dictate into the system.
- Trains physicians and APRNs to dictate and electronically sign dictation and orders.
- Ensures completion of records for Joint Commission standards.
- Works the hold queue for the dictation system.
- Makes physicians aware of late dictations, updates, and dictation cut‑off timelines.
- Performs data entry for stillbirth records.
- Review and comply with LifePoint Code of Conduct and all relevant Company and Division policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
