occupational therapist assistant i (ota) provides comprehensive skilled care as ordered by the attending physician. The ota i educates patients and their family members and ensures the safety of the patient. The ota i is accountable for completing accurate documentation and remains compliant with all legal rules and regulations. The company adopts the occupational therapy scope of practice as outlined by the state of employment.key

responsibilities provides skilled occupational therapy services in a patient’s home according to the occupational therapist plan of careobserves, records, and reports patient reactions, changes, and progressassesses functional problems and provides intervention and, in conjunction with the occupational therapist works toward goals to improve patient functional statusperforms occupational therapy procedures and diagnostic test on patients for whom they have been medically prescribedguides the patient in his/her use of therapeutic, creative and self-care activities for the purpose of improving functioningcommunicates effectively with physician, therapist, and coworkersparticipates in case conferencing promoting coordination of careeducates staff in carrying out specific occupational therapy modalities when appropriateeducates patient and family on the appropriate treatment procedures and supportive activities and safety measuresinstructs patient and family members on proper use of equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic/orthotic deviceshelps decrease re-hospitalizations by teaching the patient on preventative measures and making good decisionsfosters independence in patients and their families to prevent dependence on the agencylistens to patient and family memberscompletes all clinical documentation in accordance with agency protocol and medicare/federal guidelines.documents
