HP Mammography Overview of Position:

Performs routine diagnostic and special mammographic exams on assigned patients in an efficient and caring manner in order to provide data for the diagnosis of a variety of mammographic diseases. Evaluates exams for diagnostic quality while using professional judgment in the performance of services. Provides patient instruction on self-breast exam techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Operates all mammographic-related imaging equipment to complete the scope procedures performed at this facility.
2. Produces acceptable images by determining proper technical factors based on individual patients and/or procedures.
3. Evaluates completed procedures for diagnostic quality, and determines when additional views and repeats are required.
4. Assists physician in the performance of wire localization and/or stereotactic biopsy procedures, preparing images, sterile supplies and patient before procedure begins.
5. Follows established protocols for specimen handling for pathology needs.
6. Demonstrates understanding of all regulatory requirements in the performance of mammography.
7. Instructs patients on self breast examination; providing complete information and/or demonstration as required by individual patients.
8. Follows all radiation protection and radiation safety policies.
9. Effectively uses computer systems (such as HIS, RIS, PACS) to process, access and distribute appropriate department and patient procedure information.
10. Assists in transportation of patients to and from the department.
11. Participates in providing education and information to patients and their families.
12. Participates in clinical training of radiology students by providing instruction, supervision and evaluation as required.
13. Participates in quality assurance/quality control activities as required.
14. Performs other functions as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for Radiology and board eligible Mammography. Licensed in the State of Ohio in Radiology. Candidate must take mammography boards within 1 year of hire date.
2. One year experience as a staff radiographer.
3. Competence in all mammographic procedures performed at this facility.
4. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution skills.
5. Demonstrated excellence with listening, verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
7. Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of computer software related to electronic imaging and clinical information management.
