The Human Resources Advisor – Payroll & Benefits Specialist serves as a key member of the Human Resources team, with primary responsibility for payroll administration, benefits administration, HRIS data integrity, and employee support.
This position requires strong hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and Workday and will support payroll processing, employee benefits, HR systems, employee lifecycle transactions, reporting, compliance, and general Human Resources activities.
The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented HR professional with demonstrated payroll and benefits expertise who is comfortable working across multiple HR systems and supporting employees and managers in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Payroll Administration – Approximately 40%
- Support and/or process payroll activities using ADP Workforce Now
. - Review employee timekeeping, payroll changes, deductions, earnings, taxes, and other payroll-related transactions for accuracy.
- Process new hires, terminations, transfers, compensation changes, bonuses, deductions, and other employee changes impacting payroll.
- Audit payroll data prior to processing and research discrepancies.
- Partner with managers to resolve timekeeping and payroll issues.
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, direct deposit, and payroll procedures.
- Support payroll reconciliation, reporting, audits, and year-end activities.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and data accuracy.
Benefits Administration – Approximately 25%
- Support day-to-day administration of employee health and welfare benefit programs.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and enrollment issues.
- Process and monitor benefit enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, and terminations.
- Support annual Open Enrollment activities, employee communications, and benefit education.
- Work with benefits administration platforms, brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party vendors.
- Coordinate and reconcile benefit eligibility and enrollment information between HRIS, payroll, benefits platforms, and vendors.
- Assist with life insurance and related benefit programs
- Review benefit deductions and resolve discrepancies between payroll and benefit systems.
- Support COBRA, leave-related benefit changes, and other benefit continuation processes as applicable.
- Maintain appropriate benefits documentation and support benefit-related audits and compliance activities.
HRIS & Data Administration – Approximately 20%
- Maintain accurate employee data within Workday and ADP Workforce Now.
- Process employee lifecycle transactions, including hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, organizational changes, and personal information updates.
- Audit information across HR systems to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Maintain data integrity between Workday, ADP, benefits systems, and other HR platforms.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc HR, payroll, benefits, and workforce reports.
- Assist with system implementations, integrations, testing, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Maintain confidential employee records in accordance with company requirements.
HR Advisor Responsibilities – Approximately 15%
- Respond to employee and manager questions regarding HR policies, procedures, payroll, benefits, and employment practices.
- Support onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Prepare and process employee documentation related to employment changes.
- Assist managers with employee relations matters and elevate more complex matters to HR leadership when appropriate.
- Support workplace investigations and corrective action processes as needed.
- Assist with leave administration and employee status changes.
- Support HR compliance activities, audits, employee communications, and HR projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
- Partner with HR leadership and operational leaders to provide effective day-to-day HR support.
