Senior Global Sourcing Manager

As a Senior Global Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing technology purchases (Software, SaaS, Infrastructure) on a regional and global basis. You will develop, negotiate and implement sourcing strategies by working with key stakeholders on technology requirements, IT, security, and legal, and preparing sourcing recommendations for various levels of management.

• Understand the Software, IT, and Automotive industries and strategic direction of GM software and services.
• Build strong relationships and work effectively cross‑functionally, internally, and externally.
• Partner with IT and Business on supply‑base strategy, technologies, products used, future products, technology roadmap, and viable suppliers for technology requirements.
• Active and effective participation with key stakeholders, including Engineering, IT, Business Stakeholders, Legal, and Security.
• Develop and manage suppliers under the guidance of quality, service, technology, and price negotiations, with a sound understanding of deadlines, required lead times, supplier contracts and application types.
• Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines proactively.
• Negotiate competitive pricing, robust terms, and other items to complete a full contract package.
• Develop and maintain benchmark data to drive a strategy.
• Proven competence in negotiation skills.
• Experience handling commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance.
• Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
• Adhere to corporate purchasing and accounting policies and procedures.
• Utilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain sourcing processes to manage sourcing packages.

• 5+ years relevant experience in purchasing (internship or co‑op experience will not be considered).
• Analytical Thinking – Ability to effectively negotiate all terms and conditions. Considers various factors in decision making to determine solutions and their impacts, and make recommendations on the terms.
• Strategic Mindset – Strong strategic thinking. Ability to create a technology roadmap by collaborating with IT, understanding the supply base, technologies, products used, future potential products, and how this fits into IT’s vision.
• Data Judgement – Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions to make sound recommendations.
• Informative Communication – Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience (including leadership) both effectively and timely.
• Relationship Management – Develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships.
• Negotiation – Drive collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreements.
• Results Focus – Take charge without prompting, seize opportunities and deliver on time.
• Workload Management – Manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs, moving with urgency.
• SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems.
• High level knowledge about Software/technology purchasing.
• Strong proficiency with basic software concepts and ability to speak to Legal & Commercial Terms & Conditions.
• Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically plus internationally.

• Knowledge of procurement software.
• Strong execution skills.
• Engineering background with software purchasing experience is preferred.
• Understanding of basic engineering documents.
• Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes.

• This role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week (or other frequency dictated by their manager) and will be required to travel less than 25% for this role.
