Director, UGA Mentor Program

The University of Georgia seeks a Director to lead the UGA Mentor Program—a university‑wide initiative connecting students with alumni and career partners. The role reports to the Executive Director of the Career Center and involves strategic leadership, program expansion, data & technology oversight, and team management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of ten years of professional experience, including three years in a supervisory role.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading or contributing to an established mentorship program in higher education.
  • Experience overseeing a university‑wide program.
  • Supervisory experience with staff.
  • Experience as part of a departmental leadership team.
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness to scale a university‑wide mentor program.
  • Leadership ability to influence a culture of mentorship at UGA.
  • Background in student services, relationship building, or marketing.
Position Summary

The Director leads the UGA Mentor Program, supervising coordinators and support staff, and developing an annual strategic plan that includes orientation, marketing, outreach, education, and assessment. The role fosters a culture of mentorship across the campus, builds alumni engagement, and serves on Career Center committees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Enterprise‑Level Strategic Leadership for University‑Wide Mentoring
    • Set long‑term vision for mentoring as part of career development and alumni engagement.
    • Lead initiatives to expand student participation.
    • Establish university standards, policies, and scalable frameworks.
    • Advise senior leadership on mentoring strategy.
    • Develop high‑level partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee Program Expansion & Effectiveness
    • Create data‑driven strategy to increase program participation.
    • Ensure delivery of virtual and cohort‑based mentoring aligned with campus career initiatives.
    • Align operations across decentralized units.
    • Design mentor stewardship strategies.
    • Represent UGA nationally and internationally.
    • Serve on campus committees related to the Mentor Program.
  • Provide Executive Oversight of Data, Assessment & Technology Strategy
    • Establish data strategy for outcomes, engagement, ROI.
    • Oversee dashboards, reports, and briefings for leadership.
    • Ensure data integrity and compliance.
    • Use data insights to inform decisions and resource allocation.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance reach and experience.
    • Collaborate with Advancement Services on GAIL database updates.
  • Lead & Develop High‑Performing Teams & Capacity
    • Provide staffing leadership—including hiring, performance, and succession.
    • Build capacity for sustained growth.
    • Encourage innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
    • Develop training for staff and stakeholders.
