Job Title: Parks Maintenance Superintendent

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: M2

Reports to: Public Safety Director

Date: July 2026

Summary/Objective

Directs, coordinates, and performs construction and maintenance of all buildings, grounds, and equipment for all park facilities.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for Parks buildings and grounds maintenance and construction
  • Makes site visits to all county parks, as needed, to ensure that they are clean, maintained, safe, and ready for public use
  • Primary contact for ball field usage
  • Primary contact for soccer field usage at Horse Fork Creek Park
  • Primary contact for large-scale parks events for preparation and usage
  • Manage maintenance contracts
  • Assists in preparing annual budget for the Parks & Recreation Department
  • Coordinates with contractors and/or service delivery personnel as needed
  • Manage the work schedules for full-time, seasonal, temporary and part-time employees to facilitate maintenance and events

  • Language Skills
    :
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills
    :
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability
    :
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises all full-time, part-time, and seasonal maintenance employees. Responsible for scheduling, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Davies County Fiscal Court’s policies. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and discipling employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Required education and experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six month to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional eligibility qualifications

Valid driver’s license.
