Wastewater Collection Supervisor; N​/C)

This employee manages and supervises the activities and operations of a functional work group within the Department of Sewers or the Storm water Management Utility of the Department of Water in support of established Division and Department goals and objectives. Duties include the planning, prioritization and scheduling of work activities; establishment and measurement of relevant key performance indicators of a functional work group;

leading and participating in continuous process improvements; and coaching and mentoring employees. Performs related duties as required.

• Operational characteristics, services, and activities of wastewater collection, treatment and/or stormwater system maintenance programs.
• Principles and practices of wastewater collection, treatment and/or stormwater system operations, including testing and inspections.
• Principles of management, supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
• City and departmental human resources policies and procedures;
  Civil Service Rules; union contracts.
• Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
• Safety policies and procedures; OSHA requirements;
  Employee Safety Instruction Manual; OEPA;
  Federal policies and procedures.
• Accounting, budget analysis, and preparation and sound fiscal management.

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Seven (7) years of experience in wastewater collection, stormwater systems, or utility infrastructure operations, with at least two (2) years in a leadership role (e.g. crew leader, supervisor, manager, or similar leadership roles).
• Each applicant may substitute for up to four (4) years of general (non-supervisory) experience by possessing one or more of the following:
• A valid Ohio EPA Wastewater Collection Class 1 Operator's License may substitute for 1 year of the required experience (not additive to the OEPA WWC Class 2 License).
• A valid Ohio EPA Wastewater Collection Class 2 Operator’s License or higher may substitute for 2 years of experience (not additive to the OEPA WWC Class 1 License).
