Supervisor, Maintenance

Job Summary

The Supervisor, Rotating Equipment is responsible for direct supervision, development, and performance of the Maintenance Mechanics and for planning and executing rotating equipment maintenance work for assigned operational units in the refinery.

• Supervise, plan, and direct maintenance work execution according to the daily schedule in coordination with other work groups to ensure safe and efficient completion.
• Communicate performance expectations to craft personnel and lead safety discussions that reinforce company safety policies.
• Lead morning kickoff meetings and assign work to Maintenance Mechanics.
• Identify and act on opportunities to increase productivity of craft workers through multi‑crafting or specialized skills.
• Communicate craft knowledge deficiencies and report them to the Execution Superintendent.
• Set and drive expectations of hourly staff; communicate concerns or issues to the Maintenance Superintendent.
• Document first‑start delays in a delay report form and communicate with AMCs and the Maintenance Execution Superintendent.
• Perform planning functions for rotating equipment in the machine shop, including preparing scope, estimates, repair costs, labor, tools, materials, equipment, drawing sketches, bid packages, specifications, procedures, and related information; use job‑package feedback to improve future planning.
• Maintain effective communication and coordinate day‑to‑day or job‑to‑job tasks and readiness with other Maintenance supervisors.
• Organize confined‑space pre‑plan meetings when the responsible craft is primary for confined‑space work.
• Attend daily maintenance update and overtime meetings at the request of the Maintenance Execution Superintendent.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
• Foster a positive working environment that is inclusive and respectful of all, supports site and company values and objectives, and models integrity and work commitment.
• Oversee designated area work activities during unit turnarounds and outages and report to Turnaround Supervision.
• Assist crafts persons in solving complex equipment problems; provide high‑level troubleshooting skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline + 4 years of experience working in a maintenance environment, or in lieu of a degree a minimum of 8 years of experience in a maintenance environment.
• 3+ years of supervisory or process management experience, preferably in a union environment.
• Preference for experience in a refinery/petrol chemical environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Hard‑trade experience or certification preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Ability to respond to 24/7 call‑ins, work rotating shifts including holidays and weekends, and meet all scheduling requirements.
