. OSA is the leading voice for Ohio’s students. We have been at the forefront of youth organizing since we were founded in 2012. In 2023, we registered 14,684 young people and helped deliver ballot wins on recreational marijuana and abortion. And in 2024, we again led the largest Get Out The Vote program for young people in the state, registering 24,661 young people to vote.

We are seeking Youth Vote Canvassers who will work under the direction of the Youth Vote Manager on their campus as part of a team working to engage and organize the youth vote in the 2026 election. This position will take ownership over the following areas of work:

  • Engages and mobilizes voters under 35 through participating in tabling, dorm storms, fairs, and door-to-door canvassing to vote in the 2026 election.
  • Hits daily and weekly goals as part of the field program.
  • Lifts trends or responses from their campus and conversations that relate to the overall program goals.
  • Participates in launch and debrief meetings to discuss with their team best practices.
  • Ability to have effective conversations at events, class raps, doors and site-based canvassing.
  • Is flexible and can adapt their communication strategy based on programmatic changes.
  • Collects required data and reports data at assigned times or when requested.
  • Reports as necessary to the Youth Vote Manager
  • Comfortable using the assigned technology and is timely on filling out daily reports.
  • Completes assigned duties thoroughly and correctly.
Required

Skills and Abilities:
  • Be affiliated with a university or college
  • Organize effective team meetings that set clear standards around a culture of accountability and competition while creating a healthy work culture. Have demonstrated professionalism and tact in communications with a diversity of individuals.
  • Have strong organizational and time management skills, acute attention to detail and ability to work well with others on the campaign team.
  • Have reliable transportation to get to necessary meetings and appointments.
The Youth Vote Canvasser has:
  • Interest in community and issue organizing.
  • Experience volunteering or working in a non-profit or campaign environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Good judgment, with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Ability to speak compellingly about campaign issues and strategy.
Position Duties:
  • Hits daily and weekly direct voter contact goals as assigned by Youth Vote Manager.
  • Participates in trainings, canvass launches, and debriefs with campus team.
  • Identifies trends or patterns in voters’ behaviors based on experience in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary

This seasonal position offers an hourly rate between $25.00-$27.00, depending on experience.
