Community Development Coordinator - Urban Farm Church
The mission of the Urban Farm Church is to create a sustainable urban farm where people center the heart, mind, body, and spirit, and serve their neighbors. We work with community volunteers to develop green space, practice sustainable agriculture, and model the use of renewable energy through free workshops, volunteer opportunities, and regular community events. In 2025, the Urban Farm Church continued its work to strengthen food security as well as intercultural relationships in our community.
In 2025, we grew and gave away more than 9,000 pounds of free, fresh, organic produce. Just over 8,500 of those pounds were given away on‑site at our Farm Stand, increasing food security in an underserved area of Columbus. We have worked with over 400 volunteers and connected with people from a variety of backgrounds through our monthly food and justice workshops on topics from basic gardening to hydroponics.
Workshop participants and volunteers learn about sustainable agriculture in order to grow their own food. Volunteers help with virtually all aspects of the farm, from planting to weeding to harvesting and giving food away. In 2025, we were named the City of Columbus’ first pilot Climate Resilience Hub.
The Urban Farm Church’s Community Development Coordinator will build our capacity to transform the North Linden community in Columbus, OH. The VISTA member will strengthen our volunteer program through recruitment, training, relationship-building, coordination, and appreciation. They will coordinate educational workshops, outreach services, and community events by planning and collaborating with staff on these projects and will research training and partnership opportunities.
