Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - Corrections (Full time)

Mind Care Solutions is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Corrections Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health care to inmates within a correctional facility. The PMHMP will perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications, ensuring that all care provided adheres to evidence-based practices and correctional healthcare guidelines.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans or patients.
  • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management and therapy options
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure top tier Psychiatric care for residents, including the Collaborating Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Mental Health Professionals, Corrections Officers and HUB Coordinators.
  • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will prescribe and administer psychiatric medications, as needed
  • Monitor and adjust medication regimens to optimize effectiveness and minimize side effects
  • Implement therapeutic techniques to address a wide range of psychiatric conditions
  • The Corrections Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner offers education and support to residents and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options
  • Promote mental health awareness and wellness among residents
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all assessments and interventionsensuring all practices adhere to standards set by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) and the American Nurses Association (ANA)
  • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance mental health care services within the facility
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes
Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health
  • Current and unrestricted PMHNP license in the state of Ohio (OH)
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a PMHNP; experience in correctional or forensic settings is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Active and unrestricted DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) (We will help obtain)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners will maintain clinical competency & collaboration with Psychiatrist (we will provide)
  • Active and unrestricted driver's license
