Ada - RN-Cardiac Cath - Full Time​/Days

Find your calling at Mercy! Responsible for admitting, recovering and discharging of patients from the Cardiac Cath Lab. Provides follow-up.

Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high risk procedures. Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner.

Demonstrates the ability to assess cardiorespiratory systems for changes in adult to geriatric patients and is able to treat appropriately. Observes behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications; takes appropriate actions and documents. Demonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning of procedure rooms before and between cases and after terminal care.

Demonstrates thorough knowledge of location, care and operation of all Cardiac Cath Lab equipment. Monitors the patient at all times; does not leave the room unnecessarily. Documents patient data during the procedure (heart rate, blood pressure, respirations, all pressures, O2 saturation, EKG). Maintains procedure records. Ensures preop checklist is complete (H&P present, informed consent signed, test results present, prosthesis/dentures, contacts/glasses) before patient is taken into procedure room.

Starts IVs; monitors IV fluids and patency of IVs. Moves and transports patients safely. Counts narcotics at beginning and end of each shift with another RN per facility policy and procedure. Demonstrates the ability to educate patients and their families.

Education:

Registered Nurse, BSN preferred but not required. Licensure:
Registered Nurse or compact state licensure in the applicable state of practice.

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream.

In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States.

In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
