- Lead regional operations in injury prevention, task assessment, safety communications, hazardous materials storage and transportation compliance, and regulatory compliance
- Develop, implement, and manage company safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Ensure DSV Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are specific to the Solutions environment and sites comply with statutory requirements, including OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 where applicable
- Serve as subject matter expert and consultant to site management, corporate HSE, external regulatory agencies, talent development, and site-level staff
- Support safe practices and environmental commitments
- Conduct pre-operational risk assessments for new sites and implement risk mitigation measures
- Train and coach local Health & Safety Managers
- Partner with Facility Leadership and serve as point of contact for safety matters
- Conduct HSE audits and assessments of ongoing operations
- Administer regional safety policies, programs, procedures, and systems and ensure HSE inductions
- Represent DSV to OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other state and federal regulatory agencies
- Publish monthly safety topics and training for site-level use
- Monitor HSE controllers and Site Managers for safe work practices and adherence to standards
- Investigate HSE complaints, accidents, and near misses; recommend and follow up on corrective actions
- Coordinate Health, Safety, and Environment plans with site safety managers and representatives
- Ensure implementation of emergency procedures, including EAP, ERP, BCP, and EDP
- Coordinate and deliver regional HSE training
- Provide HSE information for RFP submissions
- Maintain regional risk registers, routine/non-routine risks, and job hazard analyses
- Assist with OSHA 300 logs and OSHA surveys
- Assist with Workers’ Compensation claims and Return to Work administration
- Prepare and maintain hazardous materials storage and handling procedures
- Oversee hazardous materials transportation compliance with EPA, DOT, IMDG, and IATA regulations
- Develop legally required hazardous materials shipping, handling, and storage training
- Remain available for after-hours calls and/or responses
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a medium to large warehouse in an HSE management capacity supervising 5 or more associates
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene) preferred
- Prior experience in safety observations/inspections and developing and implementing compliance strategies and plans
- Knowledge and understanding of current Environmental / Sustainability Topics
- Experience with in a multi-site network, preferably leading or supporting multiple operational environments
- Strong computer skills
- Proficient use of MS Office Applications
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar certification preferred
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Bilingual preferred
- Intermediate mathematical skills and functional spreadsheet use
- Ability to manage indirect reports
- Excellent training skills
- Good communication, supervisory, and people skills
- Strong project management and analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations to managers and executives
- Ability to travel by plane and/or automobile
- Up to 35% travel within the United States
- Ability to work in a distribution center environment, including exposure to temperature changes, moisture, noise, odors, and moving equipment
- Ability to sit at a computer for long periods
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to perform reaching, bending, and climbing
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
Demonstrates expertise in Health, Safety, and Environmental management, including compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards. Proven ability to develop and implement safety programs, conduct risk assessments, and lead training initiatives in a multi-site operational environment.
