Civmec is currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Shipbuilding team based in Henderson, WA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the prestigious Royal Australian Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) program, supporting the construction of world‑class naval assets.

In this role, you will play a key part in driving quality compliance outcomes, collaborating with a highly skilled team, and supporting the successful delivery of a nationally significant defence project.

The Role
  • Administer and oversee the (NC) Management process to ensure compliance with all quality requirements.
  • Manage NCs throughout its life cycle, working closely with stakeholders to ensure timely closure.
  • Validate completeness and accuracy of NC reports within Quality Systems.
  • Provide technical insight into NC processes, developing preventive actions to reduce recurring issues.
  • Review Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) supporting physical remediation and NC verification requirements.
  • Liaise with engineers to confirm effective and compliant remediation solutions.
  • Maintain and organise all NC-related OQE in the Quality System, ensuring traceability and governance.
  • Provide management reporting on NC lifecycle progress, trends, and close-out performance.
  • Monitor and implement quality assurance and control processes to improve compliance and governance.
  • Maintain and manage Quality Lessons Learnt documentation, ensuring closure of related actions.
  • Provide NC metrics analysis and reporting for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify, develop, and implement improvement opportunities to enhance operational and quality performance.
About You
  • Industry or VET qualifications aligned to ISO 9001 quality auditing (essential).
  • At least 3 years’ experience coordinating or managing NC processes, including reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven capability working within Quality Management Systems in an ISO 9001 environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate reports.
  • High attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management or compliance software.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Trade, technical, or engineering background relevant to shipbuilding or defence.
  • Qualifications in Quality Management Systems.

Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
