Job Title:

Quality Engineering Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of sheet metal components and body assemblies by using advanced metrology tools and 3D comparison software. The Quality Engineering Technician supports pre-production trials, analyzes part and sub-assembly data, and provides clear feedback to project leaders to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing quality.

Responsibilities

+ Check body welding tooling and part accuracy using Vectorarm, Perceptron, and FARO portable CMM equipment.

+ Gather and interpret part information from digital engineering systems such as Poly Works, Catia, and 3D imaging software.

+ Inspect part quality using hand tools and quality checking fixtures to verify adherence to specifications.

+ Support sheet metal sub-assembly and body build trials and activities during pre-production events.

+ Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, parts, and part fitting issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

+ Analyze part and sub-assembly dimensional data and provide clear, concise feedback to project leaders.

+ Create and maintain schedules to support project timelines and pre-production activities.

+ Continuously improve methods and practices by applying strong mechanical aptitude and metrology knowledge.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams while also working independently to complete assigned tasks.

+ Adjust work priorities and approaches in response to daily changes in production and project needs.

Essential Skills

+ 2-5 years of automotive or aerospace quality metrology experience, specifically in sheet metal quality assurance.

+ Proficiency in using portable CMM equipment, scanners, and laser trackers such as FARO and Vectorarm.

+

Experience with 3D comparison software, including Poly Works, Cam 2, Scene, and PC-DMIS.

+ Strong metrology knowledge and hands-on experience in quality engineering, quality control, and quality assurance.

+ Strong mechanical ability and experience using small hand tools to adjust or modify part datums.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

+ Ability to create and maintain detailed schedules to support project and production activities.

+ Ability to work weekends, holidays, off shifts, and overtime as required.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

+ Ability to handle medium to heavy physical work.

+ Flexibility to adapt to daily changes in tasks, priorities, and project requirements.

+ Self-motivated, with the ability to act as a self-starter and continuously improve skills and knowledge of new technologies.

Skills & Qualifications

+ Background in automotive or aerospace environments with a focus on sheet metal quality assurance.

+ Experience supporting pre-production events, including sheet metal sub-assembly and body build trials.

+ Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment, tooling, and part fitting issues.

+ Effective communication skills for providing clear feedback to project leaders and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

+ Interest in continuous learning and staying current with new metrology tools and 3D imaging technologies.

+ Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and priorities in a long-term project environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Georgetown, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.
