The Quality Engineer Supervisor leads quality assurance and control activities to ensure products meet defined specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. This role blends hands-on quality engineering expertise with leadership responsibility, including team supervision, process improvement, lab oversight, and cross-functional collaboration.
This position reports to the Quality Manager.
- Supervise and train Quality Technicians, CMM Technicians, and Receiving Inspectors, including timecard verification, attendance and time-off management and approval.
- Assist in the development of inspection and sampling techniques, quality control plans, or process control procedures that will ensure production of finished products that meet quality specifications and standards.
- Assist in the development of departmental procedures, including updating and distributing manuals and other documents.
- Maintain receiving, in process, and outbound inspection procedures and techniques.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve product and process quality, reduce scrap and enhance efficiency.
- Plan workflow through the Quality Lab including MSA requirements, weld evaluation, dimensional measurement and calibrations to be completed on time per required schedules.
- Follow up on production problems related to quality.
- Work with the Engineering Department on old and new projects to assure proper capability.
- Lead and participate in 8D investigations for internal and customer non-conformances to implement permanent corrective action.
- Perform machine capability studies and R&R evaluations on check gauges.
- Approve setup samples.
- Ensure compliance on all test methods, documentation, and records.
- Accurately report and trend data measurement results as needed.
- Assist with processing and charge backs for supplier responsible nonconforming material.
- Conduct internal quality audits to ensure procedures are being followed in compliance with ISO/TS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field. (required)
- At least 3 years of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing site. (required)
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and influence teams in a fast-paced production driven setting.(preferred)
- Prior experience in quality assurance and/or a supervisory role. (preferred)
- Experience with corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) in Quality Engineering. (preferred)
