Position Title:
Postdoctoral Research Associate – Vilgalys Evolutionary Immunogenomics Lab. Department:
Franklin-Genetics, University of Georgia.
The Evolutionary Immunogenomics Lab (PI: Dr. Tauras Vilgalys) seeks a highly motivated, independent postdoctoral associate to investigate natural population resistance to infectious diseases and apply insights to human health. Projects blend high‑throughput functional genomics, bioinformatics, and laboratory experimentation to address primate evolution, host–pathogen evolution, and gene–by–environment interactions.
Responsibilities- Conduct scientific research, including project design, execution, and dissemination (80% of time).
- Mentor and support undergraduates, graduate students, and other laboratory scientists (20% of time).
- Ph.D. in genetics, genomics, immunology, evolutionary biology, or a related field.
- Experience or proficiency in immunology, genome regulation, evolutionary genomics, and mammalian cell culture.
- Demonstrated capacity for independent, highly productive research.
- Excellent communication, time‑management, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Capability to lead projects involving mammalian cell culture, immunological assays, and functional genomics.
