24.16 per hour, step 1; step 2 $ 24.86 after 6 months; additional $0.60 per hour on 2nd or 3rd shift.

Full-time

As a PCI Correction Officer, you will maintain control of the institution to ensure the safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and general public. Your responsibilities include:

• Enforce rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas.
• Ensure assigned areas are clean, safe, and secure.
• Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers.
• Operate automotive vehicles for perimeter security and transportation of inmates.
• Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.
• Complete required reports and serve on committees.
• Prevent escapes or security incidents.
• When necessary, use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force to detain or secure inmates.

High school diploma or G.E.D.; valid driver’s license for positions involving transportation; commercial driver’s license if required. Candidates must have successfully passed the Correction Officer assessment within the past 24 months or be a current employee of the Department who have previously been certified as a correction officer. Probationary period is 365 days.
