Summary of Job Content

Perform daily maintenance activities as assigned by supervision/manager/planner-scheduler. Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues and repair according to plant/vendor/NEC standards. Read and comprehend electrical/mechanical schematics, drawings and blue prints. Install electrical/mechanical systems and equipment. Calibrate and maintain control systems. Possess a working knowledge of PLC systems including utilizing PLC software to diagnose/troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Complete pertinent documentation as required for recording of calibrations and PMs.

Understand electrical control systems and electrical distribution systems with the ability to utilize this knowledge to maintain, analyse malfunctions and assimilate proper plan and repairs as required throughout the facility. Understand mechanical components and systems with the ability to utilize this knowledge to maintain, analyze malfunctions assimilate proper plan and repairs as required throughout the plant.

Perform any other duties, as required by the department supervisor or manager, to support department, plant and company objectives and/or goals.

Core Dimensions
  • Read, understand and follow work order instructions.
  • Properly complete daily work cards and material procurement cards.
  • Communicate with management and supervision to understand scope and desired outcome of repairs, projects and assigned tasks.
  • Perform repairs in a professional, efficient manner, bringing the equipment back into manufacturer and plant specific operational standards while observing all safety procedures to include LOTO, fall protection standards,
  • confined space requirements, as well as appropriate PPE for atmosphere and area of work being performed.
  • Utilize task specific electrical and mechanical equipment, i.e., voltmeters, loop calibrators, megameters....
  • Perform math functions including, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and trigonometry; convert fractions to decimals, as required to properly size conductors, conduit, enclosures, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with technical manuals and/or SAP work order task lists.
  • Assist with inventory and cost control through proper utilization of parts and materials.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately to include work orders, time cards, material sign out cards, etc.
  • Familiarize new electricians/millwrights on plant equipment, sharing knowledge and developing best practices throughout the job classification.
  • Proficiency in plant specific electrical task to include calibration procedures, heat trace installation and applications, monitoring and troubleshooting control issues on overhead cranes and production equipment, transformer connections and maintenance, panel installation and wiring, labelling of wiring and devices, OSHA standards in energy control (specifically securing electrical enclosures and devices), bending and installing conduits, utilizing PLC software to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair control issues, and perform mechanical repairs as required by assigned tasks.
  • Proficiency in plant specific millwright tasks to include fabrication procedures, bearing installation and applications, monitoring and troubleshooting mechanical components of overhead cranes and production equipment, proper lubrication techniques, equipment installation procedures, and proper utilization and sizing, installation of mechanical fasteners.
  • Attend, contribute to and pass required training as related to the electrical and general maintenance at this facility in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Requirements
  • Successfully complete all required attainments per the Standards of Apprenticeship under the State of North Carolina Journey worker’s Program (Electrician & Millwright)
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Fully qualified in multiple fields based upon Morganton SGL Maintenance Training Program (Electrician & Millwright)
Supervisory/Team Leader Responsibility
  • Master Technician will be held responsible as on task leader
