Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Roanoke, Virginia — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Benefits- Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
Second shift, 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm - Medical, dental, vision after 30 days
- 80 hours paid time off your first year, starting Day 1

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) required
- Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience required; preferred if more
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
- Conduct standard component inspections and repairs
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
- Identify root causes of basic failures and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which may include but are not limited to service island support
