What is the Opportunity?

The High Voltage Competency Assessor & Trainer will support the delivery of electrical safety training and workforce competency assessments across utility and infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Operating as part of the Mobile Training Centre team, this role combines deep high-voltage field expertise with adult learning and coaching capabilities to ensure workers are equipped to perform their work safely, competently, and in compliance with industry standards.

The Assessor & Trainer will deliver hands‑on training, conduct practical competency evaluations, identify skill gaps, and provide field‑based coaching that strengthens electrical safety performance, reduces risk, and reinforces a culture of operational excellence across Aecon's utility and energized work environments.

What You'll Do Here
  • Deliver instructor‑led, field-informed, and practical high-voltage electrical safety training through the Mobile Training Centre and at Aecon project sites across the United States.
  • Conduct competency assessments for workers involved in high-voltage, utility, overhead, underground, substation, distribution, transmission, energized, and de‑energized electrical work, using approved tools, observations, scenario‑based discussion, and practical evaluation methods.
  • Assess worker understanding and practical application of electrical hazard recognition, safe work planning, job briefing/JARR quality, minimum approach distance, grounding and bonding principles, lockout/tagout or energy isolation, switching awareness, PPE selection, insulated tools, equipment readiness, and emergency response expectations.
