IFP is growing, and we’re looking for Field Technicians at multiple experience levels to join our Field Services team. Whether you’re developing your skills in low-voltage and fire protection work or bring years of experience with complex fire alarm and special-hazards systems, we’re interested in connecting with talented technicians who want to grow with us.

Our Field Technicians install, inspect, test, commission, maintain, and service fire alarm, detection, and special-hazards fire suppression systems at customer sites throughout the United States. Candidates will be considered for Field Technician I, II, or III based on experience, technical proficiency, certifications, and demonstrated ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, commission, inspect, maintain, and service fire alarm, detection, special-hazards fire suppression, and associated life safety systems based on experience and demonstrated technical proficiency.
  • Perform low-voltage and system installation activities including conduit, wiring, detection devices, control panels, notification appliances, cylinders, valves, piping, tubing, and related components.
  • Read and interpret applicable plans, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, sequence-of-operations documentation, and project specifications.
  • Perform system inspections, testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs in accordance with applicable codes, standards, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures.
  • Support system programming, configuration, integration, commissioning, acceptance testing, and project closeout activities as qualified.
  • Identify field conditions, deficiencies, material needs, scope concerns, and technical issues and communicate findings to the appropriate project or technical resources.
  • Coordinate field activities with other technicians, Project Management, Engineering/Design, contractors, customers, and other trades.
  • Complete field reports, work orders, inspection records, test documentation, and other required project documentation accurately and on time.
  • Follow all company, customer, and job-site safety requirements and maintain assigned vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials in safe working condition.
  • Participate in technical, manufacturer, safety, licensing, and certification training and continue developing expertise in fire and life safety systems.
  • Depending on experience level, provide technical assistance, field guidance, and mentoring to less‑experienced technicians.

Experience & Education

Required

  • Experience in fire alarm, low-voltage, electrical, fire protection, special-hazards suppression, construction, mechanical, or related field work. We are open to a range of experience levels.
