Job Details

Display Goodwill’s Core Values – Service, Hope, Dignity, and Partnership. The Career Coach will provide case management, supportive services, and career/employment support to individuals employed with Goodwill. This role will assist individuals in identifying and removing barriers to obtaining and maintaining housing and employment, achieving their career goals, improving financial literacy and independence, and enhancing productivity and employability skills. The ultimate objective is to reach vocational potential, improve quality of life, and achieve self‑sufficiency.

  • Act as a Goodwill ambassador educating, promoting, and enrolling individuals in Goodwill programs and services.
  • Complete a needs assessment and conduct intake interviews to determine barriers to employment and services needed.
  • Coach clients in developing an individualized action plan based on their barriers, needs, and goals.
  • Achieve consistent metrics related to client engagement outcomes, including meeting with clients at least every thirty days for assessment of action plans and next steps toward gaining self‑sufficiency.
  • Assist a diverse population of clients in obtaining and maintaining employment consistent with their vocational goals, including external clients without access to opportunity centers.
  • Communicate with and serve as a liaison between the client, referral sources, employers, and provide career support as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate, organized documentation, including timely input of information in designated case‑management/reporting systems subject to continuous improvement and auditing.
  • Identify current trends and forecast future workforce structures to help individuals develop necessary skill sets for viable workforce opportunities.
  • Assist individuals in obtaining information about employment benefits and how they will be affected by employment decisions.
  • Assist employees in navigating, understanding, and selecting Goodwill offered benefits to ensure optimal coverage.
  • Provide comprehensive assistance to employees in navigating the FMLA/ADA filing process, guiding and supporting them throughout the application process.
  • Promote Employer Rewards programs and activities.
  • Review professional literature and attend designated staff meetings, training, conferences, and other opportunities for professional development.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with local businesses, vocational training institutions, and supportive services and community resource agencies to identify job placement and career advancement opportunities.
  • Foster program partner relationships internally and externally.
  • Perform site visits as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job duties may be specific and determined based on grant or partner funding requirements.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated analytical capability and understanding.
  • Previous case management or related experience preferred.
  • Possess versatility, discretion, and good interpersonal skills with ability to work with a variety of diverse people, providing excellent customer service.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to plan and develop workflow with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends to accommodate programming requirements and participant needs.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work, proof of insurance, a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human relations, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Two years of work experience in workforce development, human services, or counseling environments preferred.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality and follow the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Code of Ethics.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and proficient computer skills necessary to perform job duties.
  • Physical requirements may range from sedentary to medium work: sedentary work involves sitting for extended periods, occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; and light repetitive motions; medium work involves more walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Travel across the state, as required, and to other locations beyond the assigned work location is frequently required.
