Thank you for considering employment in the Georgetown Public Schools as a substitute Nurse. We are current hiring for substitute nurses.

Unique opportunity to work with children and teenagers in the school setting. Georgetown Public Schools (GPS) has two schools - Georgetown Middle/High School and Penn Brook Elementary School. Make a difference in students’ lives and learn about an exciting career in school health! In some instances, Substitute Nurses will work alongside a FT nurse. Orientation is provided and there is ongoing support from FT nurses and Lead Nurse.

In the absence of the School Nurse, the Substitute Nurse will be responsible for direct and indirect care given to students in compliance with school district policies, professional standards of practice, physician’s orders, and the Individual Health Plan.

• Substitutes may be assigned daily or in advance for scheduled substitutions
• Fulfills School Nurse responsibilities during the building nurse's absence
• Provide routine medical care and dispense medication
• Provide first aid treatment to students for injuries
• Interpret the health status of students to parents &/ school personnel
• Notify parents of illness and accidents and fill out appropriate accident form
• Keep daily electronic log of students seen in health room (SNAP EMR)

• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
• MA Registered Nurse Licensing required
• CPR certification required
• DESE license preferred (or in progress)
• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred (public health, community health, school health, or pediatric nursing)
• Effective interpersonal/communication/organizational skills
• Hiring is subject to satisfactory CORI and SAFIS Background Checks per 603 CMR 51
• Bachelor degree preferred.

COMPENSATION: $250 per day

This is a per-diem position, benefits are not included
