FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $15.50-$18.45 HRLY
Work Days: 182 Days
Location: Gateway College Preparatory School - Georgetown, TX
Position SummaryAssists in the planning and implementation of academic activities that meet the individual needs of the student. Works as part of a team of educators to create and produce curriculum for students. Responsible for regular notes that reflect the academic and interactive progress of students.
Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate assessment testing for newly admitted students.
- Support and encourage students in completing assignments.
- Provide feedback on students in the daily milieu.
- Document students' progress on a regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Protect confidentiality of students and peers.
- Participate in gathering assessment information for each student and, as a team member, plan for student success.
- Advocate for and respond to the needs of students.
- Approach responsibilities with enthusiasm, dedication, and energy.
- Be punctual so the team is in attendance at the start of school.
- Perform duties efficiently and be self-motivated to solve problems.
- Interact with students, families, visitors, and co-workers with respect.
- Approach others with a positive attitude.
- Refrain from gossip.
- Offer problem-solving ideas.
- Strive for professional excellence.
- Follow dress code.
- Adhere to policies and procedures.
- Monitor students for safety.
- Assist teacher in assessing the academic abilities of students.
- Assist teacher in performance improvement of student academic progress.
- Educational Credentials: Must have at least one of:
Associate's degree or higher; a high school diploma is required and preferably college credits toward a Bachelor's degree are preferred; completed two years of study at an institute of higher education (48 hours);
Passed state or local assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instruction of reading, writing and math. (Paraprofessional Academy through Education Service Center);
Valid Educational Aide Certification. - Previous experience with children in a professional educational setting.
- Ability to plan and carry out activities for students that promote cooperative, supportive interactions.
- Experience or training implementing behavior support with Special Education students.
- CIP, CPR, First Aid
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Annual required staff development
- Must have and maintain a level of general physical/ emotional health, which permits effective performance of duties.
- Involves both indoor and outdoor activities, on campus and off campus.
- Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
