Position SummaryWorks collaboratively with the Head of School in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s academic and developmental programming for assigned grade levels (Elementary, MS, or HS). Serves as a key communicator with parents and the community.
ScopeThe Head of Section serves as an educational leader, responsible for managing policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure all students are supervised in a learning environment that meets approved curricula and the mission of the school.
Duties and Responsibilities- Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and behavioral responsibility; maintain visibility with students, teachers, and parents.
- Manage, evaluate, and supervise effective procedures for the operation of the school, including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, discipline systems, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with laws, board policies, and civil regulations.
- Ensure sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the school’s philosophy, mission, and instructional goals; establish schedules and procedures for supervising students in non‑classroom areas.
- Supervise instructional programs, evaluate lesson plans, observe classes (classroom teaching and duties allowed) regularly to encourage diverse instructional strategies and materials aligned with research.
- Supervise effective discipline and attendance systems, maintain a safe, orderly environment, file required reports on violence, vandalism, attendance, and discipline matters.
- Establish professional rapport with students, staff, parents; display ethical and professional behavior; serve as a role model for students.
- Notify supervisors and appropriate personnel of evidence of substance abuse, child abuse/neglect, severe medical conditions, potential suicide, or students visibly under influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
- Keep staff informed; seek ideas for school improvement; conduct regular meetings (daily, weekly, monthly) and provide regular emergency drills.
- Maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities; assume responsibility for health, safety, and welfare of students, employees, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate attendance records; account for student activity funds and money collected; secure public and confidential records.
- Identify and address special needs of students; oversee implementation of IEP and 504 plans; attend ARD/504 meetings as administrator.
- Supervise exclusion of any pupil showing behavioral, health, or communicable disease concerns; inform parents/guardians of exclusion reasons.
- Attend required committee meetings and extracurricular functions.
- Perform other duties within scope of employment and certifications, as assigned, and not prohibited by law.
Duties involve sitting most of the time, bending, lifting, and standing. Variable duties and occasional irregular hours. No occupational exposure to blood-born pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
Qualifications- Education / Certification: Master’s degree and Texas Principal Certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of three years’ administrative experience; demonstrated successful instructional leadership roles.
