AVID Tutor/Substitute
AVID Tutor/Substitute reports to campus administrator. Salary range is $16.50 (first time tutor) to $17.50 (returning tutor). Work days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 1:45 pm at Gateway College Preparatory School, Georgetown TX.
AVID is an elective class offered to high school students to help prepare them for college by teaching study and organizational skills. Tutors will work with small groups of high school students under the supervision of an AVID teacher during the school day. Tutors serve as guides and facilitators of students through questioning, writing, thinking, and discussing.
Qualifications include being enrolled at a local college or university, attending 16 hours of AVID tutor training, passing a fingerprinting and criminal history check, providing own transportation to tutoring site, and having one year of tutoring experience (preferred).
