Position Summary
A BD (Business Development) manager identifies and cultivates new business opportunities for SCADA/PPC, TCS (Tracker Control System), and HEIS (Hanwha Energy Integration System, Hanwha remote monitoring platform). The role blends high-level technical expertise in industrial control systems with strategic commercial growth initiatives for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems. BD manager identifies target applications, competitors, and/or customers in which Hanwha Convergence solutions are particularly well-suited to fill niches and opportunities in the PV & BESS renewable energy industry.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities for SCADA, automation solutions, TCS, HEIS targeting independent power producers (IPPs), utilities, and EPC firms.
- Serve as a visionary partner, translating complex SCADA, TCS, HEIS, and network requirements into commercial value for renewable asset owners.
- Lead the creation of competitive technical proposals, RFP responses, and scopes of work, including negotiating pricing and commercial terms.
- Build senior-level relationships with developers, investors, and grid operators to drive repeat business and cross-selling opportunities.
- Manage a robust CRM pipeline of leads from initial contact to contract execution.
- Maintain long-term strategic account relationships and secure repeat service contracts.
- Monitor regulatory shifts, grid modernization trends, and cybersecurity standards (e.g., NERC CIP) to position the company’s offerings.
- Identify, prepare for, and attend trade events that promote Hanwha Convergence renewable energy solutions.
- Identify potential third-party business partners to fill gaps in our solutions portfolio.
- Coordinate and drive internal/external cross functional teams as needed to promote Hanwha Convergence renewable energy solutions.
- Collaborate on R&D processes for solar and energy storage market solutions. Capture voice of customer feedback and marketing information to drive future solutions enhancements.
- Perform other duties and/or tasks as required.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering preferred.
- SCADA/PPC experience such as Ignition and/or SEL is considered a huge asset.
- Solar tracker system and/or remote monitoring system experience are considered as plus.
- More than five (5) years’ experience in business development or project development within North American power sector.
- Deep understanding of how PV and BESS facilities operate, including plant controllers, PLCs, HMI, TCS, monitoring platform.
- Be familiar with NERC CIP regulatory requirements.
- PMP certification is not mandatory, but it is considered as asset.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., seated at a desk) for extended periods of time.
- Frequent operation of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through video conferencing.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze information on screens and in printed materials.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, or lift office materials and supplies up to 20 pounds.
- Visual and auditory acuity necessary to perform job functions in a typical office environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, professional office setting with regular use of standard office equipment.
- Up to 25% of travel may be required.
