Electrical Engineering
The Junior DRE will support the design, development, validation, and release of battery interconnect products from concept through production. This role is highly CAD-intensive and ideal for an early-career engineer with strong 3D modeling skills and an interest in EV battery systems, flexible circuits, and high-voltage interconnect technologies.
The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on engineering work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants exposure to product development from prototype through manufacturing release.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for current collector assemblies, battery interconnect systems, voltage sense harnesses, and related components.
- Support design and release activities for battery products from concept through production.
- Work closely with senior engineers to develop and refine design solutions for EV battery applications.
- Assist with component selection and electrical interface methods, including welded, crimped, soldered, ZIF, and other termination solutions.
- Support prototype builds, hands‑on assembly activities, and engineering development testing.
- Participate in design reviews and DFM/DFA discussions with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Support engineering change activities, drawing revisions, BOM updates, and product release documentation.
- Assist in DVP&R development and validation activities.
- Contribute to DFMEA, APQP documentation, and release‑related engineering deliverables.
- Partner with manufacturing, process engineering, and quality teams during product builds and launch activities.
- Support root cause investigations and design updates during prototype and early production phases.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related technical discipline.
- 0–3 years of professional experience or relevant internship/co‑op experience.
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Solid Works strongly preferred; NX experience also considered).
- Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and applying GD&T fundamentals.
- Strong interest in EV battery systems, battery interconnects, flexible circuits, or power distribution systems.
- Exposure through school projects, internships, Formula SAE, robotics, or industry experience is highly valued.
- Familiarity with DFM principles and product development processes.
- Hands‑on experience with prototyping, mechanical assembly, or lab work preferred.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, or structured validation processes is a plus.
- Exposure to FEA, simulation, or thermal analysis is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
- Formula SAE, Baja, EV clubs, battery projects, or relevant internship experience.
- Exposure to battery pack systems or high‑voltage applications.
- Experience with prototype builds or manufacturing environments.
- Experience with flexible circuits, harnesses, connectors, or electrical assemblies.
