Can you diagnose a line fault, wire a cabinet, and update a CAD model before lunch?

If that sounds like your kind of day, you’ll thrive ’re looking for a Mechatronics Tooling and Equipment Engineer to sustain, improve, and expand our fleet of automated production equipment—balancing rapid response with thoughtful, long-term fixes in partnership with engineering, maintenance, and operations.

What you will tackle

Fabricate, modify, and assemble mechanical and electrical components and assemblies.

Assemble, test, and install custom manufacturing tools and equipment:

Carry out precision mechanical assembly to engineering drawings.

Execute electrical component and cabinet wiring to engineering drawings.

Develop and revise mechanical CAD models and drawings.

Perform machining and welding tasks as required.

Use cross-disciplinary knowledge (mechanical/electrical/software) to isolate root causes and implement robust solutions.

Collaborate closely with equipment engineers, process engineers, and production operators to ensure reliable, efficient equipment performance.

Support building new machines and upgrading existing systems.

Work directly with roll-to-roll web handling equipment—rollers, drives, edge guides, brakes, and steering mechanisms.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Education/Experience Associate’s or bachelor’s in mechanical engineering technology or similar (preferred).2+ years of hands-on work as a machinist, welder, mechanic, equipment engineer, or similar (desired).Strong preference for experience with design, assembly, and/or maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Self-directed problem solver; growth mindset and appetite for new technology.

Highly organized and detail oriented.

Comfortable with changing priorities in a fast-moving start-up.

Excellent communication skills and strong team orientation.
3D CAD proficiency (Solid Works strongly preferred).Ability to read/interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

Ability to create/modify mechanical drawings, models, and assemblies.

Experience creating/modifying technical work instructions.

Maintains a clean, orderly workspace; safe with hand and machine tools.

Nice-to-have experience (any subset)
Lean manufacturing principles.

Materials and construction methods typical of industrial equipment.

Basic PLCs and device configuration software.

Statistical process control familiarity.

Electrical schematics literacy.

Electrical cabinet wiring.

Roll-to-roll equipment assembly/maintenance.

Compensation and schedule

Working Conditions/Hours Hourly/Non-exempt (OT eligible)
** This position pays an hourly rate of $32 and is eligible for OT for hours worked in excess of limits defined by Texas state overtime laws.

Physical Demands – Office and Manufacturing Environment Regularly talk/hear; frequently use hands/fingers to handle or feel tools and controls. Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands/arms, and pull/push; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift/move up to 50 lbs without assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment –Combination of office (minimal noise/exposure) and shop settings (high noise from machines, moving equipment/machine parts, nuisance dust, and potential skin exposure to chemicals used to run/maintain machines).PPE-May be required to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, and clean-room frocks while following prescribed safety procedures.
