Instrumentation Specialist - Georgetown, Tx

Control Panels USA is seeking an Instrumentation Specialist to join our growing team in Georgetown, Tx.

This role will serve as the subject‑matter expert on instrumentation for CP USA and will be responsible for reviewing specifications and contract drawings to select appropriate instrumentation and accessories for project applications. The specialist will create datasheets, calibration reports, and assembly instructions; install, test, and certify installations according to contract specifications; and produce final reports required for operation & maintenance. The position is located at our Georgetown, Tx office.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject‑matter expert for external and internal clients on instrumentation selection and analysis.
  • Lead and prepare instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including Instrument Index, Instrument Data Sheets, Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Location Plans, and review wiring and loop diagrams.
  • Interpret and evaluate instrumentation and engineering diagrams, vendor‑supplied drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Review submittals, testing results, and applicable drawings or specifications.
  • Perform calibration and documentation of purchased equipment before commissioning and provide startup support.
  • Apply knowledge of common I&C engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the engineering services industry.
  • Manage purchasing vendor relationships, obtain vendor quotes, and secure best pricing.
  • Perform any other tasks, assignments, duties, or projects as requested by management.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of instrumentation experience.
  • Experience with instrument specifications and data‑sheet creation.
  • Experience with field instrument installation requirements.
  • Experience with P&IDs.
  • Broad knowledge of multiple models and manufacturers of instrumentation, including temperature, pressure, flow, and analytical instruments such as turbidity, chlorine, pH, and DO.
  • Understanding of operations, terminology, safety considerations, and applications for standard analytical instruments.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and follow‑through skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and creative problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate options and present solutions simply and clearly.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Positive, professional attitude.
  • Technically savvy, comfortable with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Optional: experience with control panel electrical wiring.
  • Optional: knowledge of networks and basic electronic troubleshooting skills.
  • Travel up to 20%.

Physical Requirements

The employee will need to talk, hear, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, sit and stand regularly. The employee will occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Utilities, electrical/electronic manufacturing experience preferred.
