We are seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to oversee enterprise-wide accounting operations within a complex, multi-location banking environment.
This individual will provide strategic and operational leadership across financial reporting, regulatory compliance, internal controls, accounting operations, and team management.
Key areas of responsibility include:- Leading all core accounting functions, including general ledger, financial reporting, loan accounting, investment accounting, fixed assets, and accounts payable
- Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across a large branch network
- Preparing consolidated financial statements and executive-level reporting for senior leadership, the Board, ALCO, and regulatory agencies
- Overseeing FFIEC Call Reports and other regulatory filings
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP, banking regulations, and industry accounting standards
- Strengthening and maintaining internal controls, policies, and procedures within a highly regulated environment
- Coordinating external audits, internal audits, and regulatory examinations
- Leading accounting-related initiatives tied to system upgrades, process automation, conversions, and operational improvement efforts
- Partnering closely with Treasury, Retail Operations, IT, and Data teams to ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity
- Supporting strategic initiatives including expansion efforts, operational integrations, and potential M&A activity
- Providing leadership and development to a large accounting and finance team, including senior-level managers and centralized operational staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation required; MBA or Master’s degree is a plus
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including significant leadership responsibility
- Prior experience within a bank or financial institution in the approximately $2B–$10B asset range (or larger)
- Strong knowledge of bank regulatory reporting, FFIEC requirements, and GAAP
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience developing teams and managing large-scale operational processes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership, auditors, regulators, and operational stakeholders
