Reporting directly to Mental Health Services Director, responsible for overseeing mental health clinicians, programs, and services within the Juvenile Services Department.
- Handles and creates work schedules for mental health counselors, temps, and interns for essential coverage
- Provides trainings to mental health staff on new procedures, processes and changes implemented by department heads
- Performs performance reviews, makes and recommends personnel changes within department parameters
- Provides clinical oversite of mental health services, treatment decisions and employee development
- Conducts staff check-ins regarding caseload and development
- Oversees and assists with the training and development of counseling interns
- Provides staff with necessary trainings on policy and procedures
- Researches assessment tools for possible implementation
- Provides individual, group and family counseling to juvenile residents and their families
- Conducts crisis screening for new residents
- Assists in providing and coordinating community resources based on resident and family needs
- Participates in identifying and treatment of mental health needs
- Responds to mental health crisis and provides crisis intervention
- Assists in planning and implementation of mental health programs
- Serves as mental health liaison for residents, families and medical professionals
- Supports residents and families with transition and continuity of mental health care
- Conducts mental health and counseling assessments
- Creates and maintains all mental health charts and documentation
- Coaches non-mental health personnel on youth mental health issues
- Assists with the training and development of counseling interns
- Conducts home and school visits to track progress
- Trains Juvenile Services personnel on trauma care
- Provides progress update to mental health professionals
- Attends all meetings and trainings necessary as needed
- Performs special duties as assigned

- Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions, and standing
- Position involves performing non-violent physical restraint
- Position involves operating motor vehicles
- Position involves participating or leading adventure-based activities
- Position involves occasional lifting and carrying of up to fifty (50) pounds and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objects
- Work is primarily indoors in an air‑conditioned environment
- Contact with persons accused or adjudicated of crimes
- Exposure to aggressive behavior and bodily fluids of youth with mental health needs
- Regular travel between work sites as required
- Includes regular occurring evening and weekend hours and occasional holiday hours
- Work schedule and on‑call schedule assigned
- Ability to provide crisis intervention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Position requires 24 hour on‑call schedule rotation
- May be deemed as essential personnel in the event of an emergency
- Essential personnel for emergency situations; discretion of department director
- Regular attendance is required

QUALIFICATIONS- Master’s degree in behavioral health, counseling or related field (see licensure requirements below)
- Two (2) years of experience as a licensed mental health practitioner
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Two (2) years of experience working with youth
- Working knowledge of specific job‑related technology
Required
- One of the following:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
- Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)
- Licensed Sex Offender Therapist Provider (LSOTP)
