Overview
The City of Georgetown Fire Department is recruiting for a Civil Service Paramedic position. Paramedics will respond to all medical emergencies, fire support activities, rescues and recovery operations, maintain preparedness, manage vehicles and equipment, and work as part of a team to protect life and property during all types of emergencies.

Conduct rescues and recovery operations.
Maintain vehicles, equipment, and medical supplies.
Participate in special training and administrative duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications- Certified or licensed paramedic through the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or the National Registry.
- EMT‑B through TDSHS eligible if enrolled in a paramedic program with expected graduation no later than June 30, 2026.
- At least 18 on the date of the written exam and under 45 at the time of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited high school or holder of a GED.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Good moral character.
- Valid Texas driver’s license within 60 days of hire (unless extended).
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass the written examination with a minimum score of 70%.
- Pass a background investigation, a physical ability test, and an oral interview.
- Complete a post‑job offer drug screen, psychological examination, and medical examination, including a visual acuity test and physician certification of no illegal drug use.
- Obtain or possess certifications consistent with the Fire Department hiring policy.
- First Preference – Certified or licensed paramedic through TDSHS or the National Registry at the time of the written exam.
- Second Preference – Certified or licensed EMT‑B through TDSHS or the National Registry at the time of the written exam, currently enrolled in a paramedic program with expected completion by June 30, 2026. Provide proof of enrollment, an instructor endorsement letter, and proof of program graduation date.
- Written exam dates:
Saturday, May 30, 2026 and Saturday, June 6, 2026. Candidates may only take one. - Location:
Public Safety Operations Training Center, 3500 DB Wood Rd, Georgetown, TX 78626. - Check‑in starts at 8:00 a.m.; no admission after 8:30 a.m.
- Personal History Statement required immediately after the exam.
- Failure to submit required documents will result in disqualification.
Starting salary for a certified paramedic is $76,421 based on a 56‑hour work week, including $6,400 in Paramedic Credentialing pay. Additional benefits include longevity pay, overtime, and certification/assignment pay.
