Overview
Control Panels USA is a manufacturer of control panels and relay rack assemblies serving OEM clients, contractors, and end users. We specialize in custom design and fabrication and operate a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Austin, Texas.
The Electrical Controls CAD Drafter will use plan drawings to develop detailed drawings for fabrication of control panels, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and physical assembly drawings. The role requires close collaboration with project managers and the production team to ensure accuracy, standards compliance, and timely completion of projects.
Responsibilities- Create drawings in AutoCAD for panel cut‑outs, back‑panel wiring, and finished control panels.
- Communicate and collaborate with project managers to ensure design accuracy and industry standards.
- Resolve design and drawing issues with production and project teams.
- Generate and/or revise schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment assembly drawings.
- Follow CP USA standards to maintain drawing consistency.
- Analyze production markups and revise drawings to reflect finished product.
- Review cost estimates to ensure correct parts and panels are used.
- Develop designs based on contract drawings and specifications when required.
- Adhere to timelines set by project managers.
- Provide sample project drawings upon interview.
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to research required tools.
- Think creatively within project parameters.
- Complete other tasks and assignments as requested by management.
- Experience or exposure in control panels/relay racks (preferred but not required).
- 8+ years of experience using AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and product guidelines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
- Ability to follow directions and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Capability to work independently and in team environments.
- Detail oriented; accuracy is a must.
Regularly required to talk, hear, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, drive, sit and stand.
