* The Communications and Public Engagement Department is focused on increasing community engagement. The Public Engagement Coordinator will work to build and maintain relationships with homeowners, neighborhood associations, and community partners. The position will coordinate efforts with all City departments to successfully execute public engagement campaigns, as well as research, develop, and train staff on public engagement principles and best practices.
They will work directly with the Communications and Public Engagement Department Director to determine the best strategies for engaging the community in these efforts. The Public Engagement Coordinator will also be responsible for attending events to generate awareness of the City of Georgetown’s services.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
** Manage, coordinate, and assist with the planning, development, and implementation of strategies to help facilitate community involvement with City departments, programs, and initiatives.
* Assist with the facilitation of public dialogues and consensus-building. Assistance includes securing venues, arranging for interpreters, greeting attendees, note-taking, and/or facilitating.
* Develop, present, and evaluate material for public outreach and educational events.
* Organize, implement, and participate in other public events, including giving presentations and facilitating small-group discussions.
* Manage setup and execution of assigned public engagement campaigns.
* Maintains the Georgetown Neighborhoods Roundtable group, including organizing and producing quarterly meetings, responding to requests, sending regular newsletters, and maintaining an updated contact list.
* Serves as the subject-matter expert and point person for public engagement for the City of Georgetown, including developing and providing training on public engagement best practices and principles and working with other departments to create and support public engagement efforts across multiple platforms.
* Serves as the City’s lead for updating and adhering to our Language Access goals.
* Lead developing policies to guide and manage public engagement and language access strategies for the City.
* Develops and employs processes to track public engagement and feedback.
* Works with City staff to write and edit communications collateral, including news releases, articles, social media posts, presentations, and speeches, when needed for public engagement campaigns.
* Participates in the development of overall marketing strategy and objectives for assigned campaigns.
* Remains current on industry trends, activities, and current programs related to public engagement.
* Identifies specific objectives, target customer segments, and plans for individual public engagement campaigns.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
