Travel Labor and Delivery RN – Georgetown, Texas

Duration: 13 weeks
Hours: 36 hours per week (12‑hour nights)
Employment Type: Travel
Pay: Competitive pay for 12‑hour shifts, 36 hours per week (tax‑free stipend subject to confirmation)

Job Summary

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting. This role encompasses assessing maternal and fetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques
  • Prepare equipment and assist physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
  • Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols
  • Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
  • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
  • Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
  • Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
Required Qualifications
  • One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
  • STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC)
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position

  • Proficiency in English language reading, writing, and communication
  • Computer proficiency (basic PC skills)
  • Physical abilities: able to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, bend
  • Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills: mastery of fine manipulation, pushing/pulling, assisting with procedures
  • Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the public and customers, meet deadlines under pressure, work with or without supervision, handle irregular activity schedules, and maintain continuous concentration to detail
  • Sensory: excellent visual acuity and effective communication
