About the Role
The role is Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda. The specialist supports plasma center operations, reports to the Plasma Center Manager or Assistant Manager, and works under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues. The position requires familiarity with plasma collection regulations and environmental, health and safety (EHS) guidelines.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma.
- Manage donor adverse events.
- Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable results.
- Conduct medical history interviews, informed consent, physical examinations, and blood testing, including Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and medical or technical guidance.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation requirements with occupational health/ER.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20 (actual wage based on qualifications, experience, and local wage requirements).
