Your Impact as a Surgery Veterinary Assistant
  • Deliver Hands-On Clinical Support: You'll assist surgeons and technicians with patient exams, triage, and surgical procedures, as well as performing venipuncture, administering oral medications, and taking radiographs.
  • Prepare and Support Every Surgery: You'll prepare patients for surgery by clipping and aseptically scrubbing surgical sites, assist with positioning and restraint, support sterile technique in the surgical suite, and help with surgical pack preparation, instrument cleaning, and autoclaving/sterilization.
  • Provide Post-Operative and Compassionate Care: You'll monitor patients during recovery, manage pain, and ensure patient comfort—all while maintaining a clean, organized, and sterile facility.
  • Create a Positive Client Experience: You'll discharge patients, review post-surgical treatment plans, incision care, and follow-up instructions with clients, and assist with client service operations such as answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: You'll accurately maintain medical records, prescriptions, and invoices using our computer systems, support surgical suite turnover between procedures, help monitor surgical supply inventory, and assist with training new teammates.
What You'll Bring to the Team
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (must be at least 18 years old).
  • Veterinary assistant experience is required; experience in a surgical or sterile environment is a strong asset.
  • A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • The physical capability to lift and carry animals up to 40 lbs, with comfort in prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and physical activity.
