Summary
Quality Engineer will develop and maintain quality systems according to standards and assist customers with any issues.
Essential Functions- Ongoing testing of parts (functional, dimensional, physical properties, etc.)
- Create, update, and maintain quality documentation, customer contact reports, customer sort reports, and information related to concerns and procedures
- Serve as focal point of contact for internal and external customers
- Participate in or initiate cross‑functional teams for effective problem solving and mistake‑proofing of quality problems
- Travel and provide support to customers to resolve issues
- Participate and improve in product development meetings to review engineering changes, manufacturing methods, planning, and process specifications related to product quality
- Coordinate with customers regarding quality performance trends and corrective action
- Communicate production and quality issues with employees and supervision when necessary
- Responsible for development and support of all APQP documentation required for PPAP, PSO, etc.
- Responsible for the ECNs after SOP or programs in the production phase
- Prepare and submit APQP documentation
- Support and work with Materials and Production departments to plan and perform Run@Rates
- Develop visual standards and system criteria for use in manufacturing operations in new launches and maintain for serial life products
- Follow all internal and OSHA required safety procedures
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Maintain layered process audit system
- Create cell layouts and work instructions for new parts
- Participate in all customer quality audits (IATF, BIQS, etc.)
- Develop and maintain quality system for assigned projects
- Lead and/or participate in implementation and discipline of SPC
- Develop all quality‑related instruction sheets
- Participate on 8D and continuous improvement teams, provide problem‑solving consultations as needed
- Put PPAP packages together for submission to customers
- Resolve customer issues for assigned projects
- Provide leadership and guidance for quality personnel in the use of quality methods
- Be direct contact for all assigned customer base
- Work with all customers for resolution of product quality issues
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager
- Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor
- Continue training as required
- Understand customer‑specific requirements
- Technical degree or equivalent experience; computer literate
- Experience with ISO
9001, IATF
16949, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, QOS, 8D problem solving - Knowledge of quality systems and standards; inspection techniques; measurement instrument usage
- Capable of performing Gage R&R and capability studies
The employee is frequently required to walk and sit; occasionally required to stand, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision. The employee will be responsible for part inspection with constant lifting of boxes for inspection and labeling.
