Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking a Title Research Analyst – Texas Minerals with experience researching Texas real property, mineral ownership, probate, heirship, and recorded documents. This is a research and analytical position, not a traditional full-scope landman role. The analyst will primarily support our landman and acquisitions team by researching mineral ownership, identifying current owners and heirs, tracing ownership history, and resolving gaps or questions in the chain of title so we can accurately evaluate and acquire mineral interests.

  • Research mineral and surface ownership using Texas county records, public records, and online research tools.
  • Review deeds, mineral deeds, royalty deeds, assignments, probate records, wills, affidavits of heirship, judgments, liens, and other recorded documents.
  • Trace mineral ownership through multiple generations, conveyances, and ownership changes.
  • Identify deceased mineral owners and research heirs, estates, probate proceedings, and potential successors in interest.
  • Research family relationships and heirship when necessary to identify current ownership.
  • Identify gaps, clouds, discrepancies, or missing documents that may affect mineral ownership.
  • Review legal descriptions, acreage, surveys, and property records to help determine the mineral interest associated with a tract.
  • Research prior owners and conveyances to determine how an interest moved from one party to another.
  • Organize research findings and provide clear notes and supporting documentation to the landman and acquisitions team.
  • Assist with ownership verification before mineral purchase offers are prepared.
  • Work with the landman on more complicated title issues requiring additional research or curative work.

Ideal Background Candidates may come from a variety of research and title-related backgrounds, including:

  • Mineral title research
  • Mineral ownership research
  • Texas county clerk and county records research
  • Deed and conveyance research
  • Probate and heirship research
  • Real property abstracting
  • Title examination or title research
  • Landman support
  • Mineral acquisition research
  • Genealogical or public-record research involving property ownership

A strong candidate should be comfortable following an ownership trail through deeds, probate records, family relationships, and other public records, and should be able to recognize when something in the chain of ownership does not make sense.

Experience with Texas mineral records is preferred, but we are open to candidates with strong property-title, abstracting, probate, heirship, or public-record research experience who can learn the mineral-specific aspects of the role.

Compensation: $50,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience.
