PRN Culinary Aide

We are currently looking for a Culinary Aide to work PRN or "as needed" within our Independent Living community of The Wesleyan. Proven experience working as a prep cook or dishwasher in a restaurant, healthcare, education, or senior living environment along with a deep passion for showing others you care through the support you provide to the culinary team will be essential to your success as a Culinary Aide at The Wesleyan

This is a PRN or "as needed" position and requires a minimum of 16 hours worked per month as well as flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Assist with basic food preparation and ingredient handling.
• Prepare food items based on production sheets following established quantities and recipes.
• Complete daily production worksheets and waste log sheets.
• Safely operate a variety of kitchen equipment, including but not limited to, oven, industrial mixers, tilt skillets, steam jacket kettles, low- and high-pressure steamers, convection steamers, grills, griddles, buffalo choppers, garbage disposals, knives, deep fryers, portion scales, portion control scoops and spoons.
• Complete orders from steam tables and grills, serving residents at multiple stations in an efficient and friendly manner; resolve resident concerns in a professional and prompt manner.
• Support chefs and kitchen staff during meal prep and service.
• Washes and stores all dishes and equipment in accordance with specified procedures.
• Assembles, operates, and cleans dish machine.
• Cleans and sanitizes and relines the trash/garbage containers.
• Responsible for providing prepared food and meals of the highest quality for service to the residents.
• Assists cooks and waitstaff as requested.
• Responsible to complete other job tasks as assigned by the Executive Chef, Dining Services Director, and/or program Administrator as required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role is a plus.
• Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to follow recipes and production standards.
• Ability to use basic math skills to complete required forms and schedules.
• High volume, complex food service operations experience is highly desirable.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
