Description

We have a full-time, 1st shift Heavy Equipment Mechanic position available at our Georgetown, Texas location, 2101 Airport Rd, Georgetown, TX 78628. The hours of the position are M-F, 7am to 4pm. This mechanic position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. Can work independently or as a member of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals.

Mid-level position – Generally has more than four years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A Level III Technician has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Level III Technician performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting; often a team member on a large project.

  • Essential Functions
    • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
    • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
    • Disassembles and assembles of machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
    • Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
    • Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
    • Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
    • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
    • Mentors and helps train other technicians
    • Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
    • Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
    • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
    • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., Pro Tech Technician Training Paths
    • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
    • Knowledge of heavy equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, and other dirt moving equipment preferred
    • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
    • Quality control analysis skills—the ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings
    • Operation and control skills—controlling operations of equipment or systems
    • Equipment selection skills—determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
    • Ability to operate a conventional forklift and an overhead crane
    • Ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
    • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
    • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
    • Ability to read, write, and understand information
    • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
    • Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
    Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • Four or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred
    • Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred
