Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time Electrical Power Generator - Field Service Tech position available in San Antonio, Texas. The hours of the position are Monday‑Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM, with possible overtime including weekends. Daily travel and overnight travel are required throughout Texas.
Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for providing troubleshooting and high‑quality repair service on power generation, gas and diesel engines, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches), to respond to customers' needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
The Field Service Technician III provides face‑to‑face customer service at an off‑site location and is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning various light and heavy construction equipment.
The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily:
1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values;
2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources;
3) Participate in ongoing self‑development.
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Performs basic to intermediate repairs and minimal troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision
- Performs basic to intermediate troubleshooting and minimal diagnoses of equipment malfunctions and failures
- Removes and installs parts, disassembles and assembles components to CAT specifications
- Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments
- Prepares and completes all job‑related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; accesses databases required to complete job
- Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
- Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation
- Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
- Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order
- Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
- Completes assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat‑rate time and re‑work standards
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner
- Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level technicians
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Aqualified candidate must have at least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of Electrical Power and Generator experience.
- At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of Natural Gas and Diesel Engine experience.
- At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches) experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Excellent customer service skills; must be able to communicate both written and verbal with customers and employees professionally.
- Must have own tools.
- Must have a safe driving history.
- Ability to be productive by working efficiently and effectively with a high energy level.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Must be able to work Monday‑Friday from 7 AM - 4 PM.
- Must be on‑call two weeks out of the month.
