Property Accountant
Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – 4 Days In Office / 1 Day Remote)
Compensation: $85,000–$100,000
A growing and well-established property management organization is seeking to add a Property Accountant professional to its accounting team due to significant portfolio expansion. With approximately 20% growth anticipated in the coming months, the company is investing in top talent to support new property onboarding, maintain exceptional client service standards, and strengthen its accounting operations.

Position SummaryThe Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of multifamily and commercial properties. The ideal Property Accountant will be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting directly with property owners, clients, operations teams, and executive leadership.
This role reports directly to the Controller and offers exposure to portfolio growth initiatives, property onboarding projects, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:Full-Cycle Property Accounting
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for assigned properties.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Complete bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Generate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate and delivered on schedule.
- Review accounts payable activity and cash requirements.
- Monitor property-level cash positions and liquidity.
- Assist with cash forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Coordinate with operational teams regarding financial issues and account balances.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies independently.
- Participate in client and ownership meetings.
- Explain financial statements, trends, and operational impacts to stakeholders.
- Respond to financial inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Build credibility and trust with property owners and investment partners.
- Support the onboarding of newly acquired or managed properties.
- Assist with accounting file conversions and system setup.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Help ensure smooth transitions during periods of portfolio growth.
Required Experience
- 2+ years of property accounting experience.
- Experience performing full-cycle accounting and financial close responsibilities.
- Ability to manage multiple properties and competing deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to work independently with limited oversight.
- Professional communication skills and client-facing confidence.
- Multifamily and/or commercial real estate accounting experience.
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software.
- Exposure to owner reporting and investor communications.
- Prior experience supporting property transitions or onboarding efforts.
