Job Description About the Firm
We are representing a well-established boutique CPA firm known for its high‑touch client relationships, deep technical expertise, and long‑term client partnerships. The firm is home to a seasoned team of Partners and serves a sophisticated client base in Saint Simons Island, GA, a beautiful coastal community on Georgia’s Golden Isles. This is a rare opportunity to step into a meaningful leadership role at a firm with a strong reputation and a stable, high‑quality book of business.
Aboutthe Role
Our client is seeking a Tax Director to join their team and take ownership of a well‑established client base. This role is central to the firm’s long‑term continuity, with a focus on client relationship management, technical tax work, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is someone who is ready to plant roots, grow within the firm, and build a long‑term career in a premier coastal market.
This is an especially compelling opportunity for a seasoned tax professional looking to trade the pace of a major metro for an exceptional quality of life on the Georgia coast—without sacrificing the caliber of work or clientele.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for a sophisticated book of business spanning high‑wealth individuals, estates and trusts, and business entities.
- Lead and review complex tax engagements across business compliance (partnerships, corporations), individual returns, and estate and trust work.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a high standard of client service.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, proactively identifying needs and delivering meaningful guidance.
- Mentor and develop tax staff, providing on‑the‑job training, feedback, and leadership.
- Participate in business development and firm growth efforts over time.
- Collaborate closely with firm Partners on strategic priorities and client transitions.
- 7+ years of public accounting or tax experience.
- CPA required.
- Strong technical background in business compliance—partnerships and corporations are the priority; estate and trust experience is a significant plus.
- Experience managing high‑wealth individual clients and complex entity structures.
- Demonstrated ability to own and grow client relationships independently.
- Leadership presence with the ability to develop and manage staff.
- Passion for reviewing work, owning the process, and building toward an income partner trajectory.
- Existing book of business is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to work fully in‑office; relocation to Saint Simons Island, GA required.
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and book, with a clear path to income partner.
- Opportunity to inherit and grow a well‑established, sophisticated book of business.
- Long‑term stability and partnership in a firm with deep community roots.
- Supportive partnership team invested in a thoughtful transition and your long‑term success.
- Full‑time, in‑office role on Saint Simons Island, GA — one of the Southeast’s most sought‑after places to live and work.
Opportunity to build a career in a premier coastal market with a stable, high‑quality client base and strong compensation.
