Job DescriptionPRIMARY FUNCTION
:
This position is responsible for performing a variety of responsible clerical work and other associated duties within the school counseling function of the school.

- Education Level: A GED or a standard high school diploma from a GaDOE-approved and accredited institution is required.
- Preferred: Vocational or college-level courses in secretarial skills or office management.
- Experience, Skill, and Certification:
- One or more years of experience in a clerical or secretarial role.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and other office-related software packages.
- Demonstrable oral and written communications skills, math skills, and organizational skills which give the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, staff and others, to prepare schedules, materials packets, and reports, and to organize meeting arrangements.
- Experience with standard office equipment and procedures.
- Ability to use judgment to make or recommend decisions related to escalation of issues or other related situations based on departmental, school or Board policy.
- Able to multitask in a busy office/school environment.
- Assists in the preparation and completion of reports, correspondence, and other necessary documentation.
- Alerts School Counselor(s) to emergency situations.
- Maintains a schedule of appointments for the School Counselor(s).
- Makes arrangements for parent conferences, counseling sessions and other meetings.
- Screens and directs visitors and telephone calls.
- Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed, and puts it into usable form.
- Assists in researching and preparing varied reports and presentations.
- Assists in new student registration/enrollment.
- Requests, sends, and maintains student records according to the practice of the SCCPSS Board policy.
- Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.
Incumbents will be considered “at will.” Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. The work calendar will be the 200 day classified work schedule.
