The Administrative Support Specialist serves as a versatile and cross‑trained team member responsible for providing comprehensive clerical and administrative support to various divisions within the Camden County Sheriff's Office, including the, Jail Administration, Records, Administrative Division, and other duties as assigned. This position acts as a critical backup for key administrative positions, ensuring operational continuity and consistency across the agency.
MAJOR DUTIES- Serve as administrative support to divisions including, but not limited to, Front Office Operations, Jail Administration, Executive Staff, Records handling, and Support Services.
- Maintain complex and confidential records; prepare, compile, and file case documentation.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries including open records requests and citizen concerns; document, research, and process complaints of a criminal or civil nature.
- Interact regularly with outside agencies, including probation services, law enforcement partners, and legal counsel, to ensure timely and accurate data exchange.
- Assist with payroll processing and related documentation as needed to ensure accurate and timely compensation for agency personnel.
- Maintaining account payable records and collaborating with external vendors.
- Provide customer service and front desk coverage as needed, including greeting visitors, routing calls, and processing requests.
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive or restricted information in accordance with agency policy, state law, and privacy standards.

- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of law enforcement and criminal justice terminology and practices. (Preferred but not required.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge in Law Enforcement administrative systems (e.g., Tyler Technologies). (Preferred but not required.)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑responsibility environment.
Reports directly to the Executive Assistant to the Sheriff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTPrimarily office‑based. May require extended hours, including nights and weekends.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITYNone.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or GED Required.
- Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Two (2) years of administrative, legal, or law enforcement support experience preferred.
- Ability to pass a background investigation to include successfully completing Security & Awareness Training.
- Must be willing to attend a Georgia Open Records Class when available.
